It took about 20 minutes to connect after I landed in Guangzhou which had me a bit worried. Messaged support and they confirmed this is normal and to not delete the eSIM. It connected on its own and was perfect for the rest of the trip. Would have given 5 stars if I'd known about the potential wait upfront

The email instructions were clear and thorough. Installed it on WiFi at home, disabled auto data switching as instructed and turned on data roaming on arrival in Chengdu. Connected to China Telecom automatically. Speeds were good for 5G/4G the whole time

Bought the 30GB plan for a three week trip and had plenty of data to spare. China Unicom speeds were good in the major cities. The QR code came through to my email almost instantly which was great. Support team was also on chat quickly when I had a question
