What is the best eSIM for Europe from Australia?
It depends on your trip. For most travellers the Three Europe & UK eSIM (from A$9.90) is the best value for a data-only plan. If you need a phone number for restaurant bookings and calls, choose the Orange Europe eSIM. For heavy data use, the Orange 50GB/100GB plans or the Vodafone 40GB plan are the strongest options.
Does a Europe eSIM include the UK?
Our Europe & UK plans (Three, Orange 20–100GB, Vodafone) all include the United Kingdom. The Orange Europe 13–26GB eSIM covers the EU plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein but does not include the UK — check the coverage list on each product page.
How do I activate my Europe eSIM?
Scan the QR code we email you, any time before your trip. The eSIM activates automatically when it first connects to a network in Europe. The QR code must be installed within 90 days of purchase.
Can I use my phone as a hotspot?
Yes — hotspot and tethering are supported on all our Europe eSIM plans.
Do these plans include calls and texts?
The Three and Vodafone eSIMs are data-only (use WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc.). The Orange Europe eSIM and Orange Holiday plans include a Spanish phone number with calls and texts within the EU.
Will my phone work with an eSIM?
You need an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone — iPhone XS or newer, most Samsung Galaxy S20+ / Google Pixel 3+ models. Phones bought outright in Australia are usually unlocked; carrier-financed phones may need to be unlocked first.
Is Switzerland / Norway / Iceland covered?
Yes — Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein are included in our Europe plans, even though they're outside the EU.
What if I run out of data?
Orange and Vodafone plans can be recharged. The Three Europe & UK eSIM cannot be recharged — pick a larger allowance or grab a second plan if needed.
Do I need ID to buy a Europe eSIM?
The Three Europe & UK eSIM requires no ID. Orange and Vodafone plans require a passport for EU registration — a photo submitted after purchase is all that's needed.
When should I buy my eSIM?
Any time up to 90 days before you fly. We recommend installing it at home on Wi-Fi so you land in Europe already connected.
